At first I wanted to have 10, 20 and 30 minute recipes as my users showed that they wanted shorter and easy recipes, but then when I started researching recipes I found that recipes divided themselves more frequently in blocks of 15 minutes - I compromised and went for: ‘about 15 minutes’ and ‘about 30 minutes’. This can at least give a rough guide to how long things will take.
It will be an area I will ask about when testing.
My nearsightedness in the card sort activity has come back to bite me - as a vegetarian cook I’m not sure what kind of animal proteins people tend to have at home and had a bit of trouble choosing plausible ‘everyone’s-got-this-at-home omnivore recipes’. I’ve stuck with foods that have been common around me my whole life but this is obviously an area that would require more consideration in continuous iteration processes.
Here are the recipes I will be using in the app.
I will modify them where needed so that they fit the time restraint better, are simpler or use ingredients more aligned with what the research has shown my users have at home. All this said, the recipe is still the base and is referenced in this project as it would be a waste of time to try and become a chef just for this project.
